The MQTT messaging protocol is the ultimate gateway to automation systems. Unlike the HTTP/S interface MQTT uses a subscription model to push all updates directly to all subscribed clients. We added a Mosquitto 2 broker to our cameras to enable customers to use our camera as their MQTT hub. Up to this date afaik we are still the only IoT device manufacturer that made their entire control interface available over MQTT. This allowed for camera-to-camera notifications as well as easy auto-integration in automation systems like Home Assistant, OpenHab, etc via MQTT Autodiscovery.
