Pilot Cold Startup
- Oxygen on
- Ground-Power and Air on (Canopy open!)
- Make sure Parking Break is Engaged
- Jester Start-up
- Intercom Check
- Arm Ejection Seat
- Close Canopy
- Crank Right-Engine
- Right Engine at 3rd Mark set Right Throttle to idle
- Crank Left Engine
- Left Engine at 3rd Mark set Left Throttle to idle
- Switch on all 3 SAS Stability Augmentation System Switches (Pitch, Roll & Yaw)
- Switch on HUD, VDI & HSD
- Set HSD to TID to pass through Alignment Progress
- Uncage Backup-ADI (Artificial Horizon on the Right)
- Set Radar Altimeter to 500 Feet
- Set Wing-Sweep forward, Reset and set to Auto (unless on a Carrier)
- Set Position, Tail and Cockpit Lights
- Set Radio to BOTH
- Set TACAN (behind Radio) to Transmit/Receive
- Ground-Power and Air off
- After Alignment press Parking Break in and activate Nosewheel Steering
Automated Carrier Landing System (ACLS)
- Switch HUD to Landing Mode
- VSI Trim Level at 250 Knots
- Set Datalink to Carrier
- Set ICLS to on ("Hidden" Switch on the Top Right of the Right Panel)
- Set Steer CMD from Destination or TACAN to AWL
- Set HUD and VDI to AWL
- Set Auto-Pilot to ACL and Engage (Outer Switch Down / Inner Switch Up)
- RIO: Set Beacon to ACLS - Green light on (Left Panel Back).
- Hook, Gear and Flaps
- Power to 1-notch above idle and APC (Automated Power Compensation) to Auto (Left of Throttle)
- Keep Glideslope and Vertical Localizer on Center Dot in VDI
- Indicator Lights left of VDI Landing Check, ACLS READY click Nosewheel Steering Button
